SOLANGE DU
HIER BIST by Stefan Westerwelle (Germany 2006) |
|
|
Sebastian, a young male
prostitute, is one of Georg’s few remaining chances to break
through his hermit-like everyday life in exchange for a few
fleeting moments of being together with someone – at least for a
few hours. Behind Georg’s petit bourgeois façade is an old man
who leads a totally isolated and lonely life. Georg loves
Sebastian’s easy-going and playful manner. He loves the absurd
stories that the boy spontaneously comes up with and Georg never
knows whether to actually believe all of them or not. And it
looks like today Georg’s long cherished dream will finally come
true: this time the boy asks him if he can stay overnight – of
his own free will.

Männer,
Helden und Schwule Nazis by Rosa von Praunheim (Germany
2004) |
|
|
Since its inception, the
homosexual movement has always numbered gays whose political
leanings tend towards the extreme right (...). My documentary
portrays gay men who describe themselves as right-wing, or who
have a history of alignment with the extreme right. Andre is a
skinhead. He associates with a group of other bald-headed
right-wing men, most of whom tolerate his being gay. Bernd Ewald
Althans, who gained a reputation for his film,
Profession:Neonazi, did time for his denial of the Holocaust.
Today, he organises gay parties in Berlin. For nine years, Jörg
Fischer was an active member of the extreme right-wing parties
NPD and DVU. During this time he had a relationship with another
male party member which lasted four years (...). Some may be
shocked that I do not take a stand in my film and do not portray
gay neo-Nazis as monsters, but as people living their lives in
dramatic contradiction. Rosa von Praunheim. |

LOVING
ANNABELLE
by
Katherine Brooks
( USA 2006) |
|
|
Inspired by the 1931 German film, lesbian classic Maedchen in
Uniform, this film is a riveting and unabashedly romantic tale
of forbidden student-teacher love. At an all-girl Catholic
boarding school, Annabelle is the sexy, rebellious new girl on
campus. She is drawn to her beautiful poetry teacher, Simone, a
straight-laced woman in a tepid relationship with her boyfriend.
It’s not long before the flirtatious and naughty Annabelle
begins bonding with Simone, unleashing buried passions and
memories within her teacher. This highly inappropriate
entanglement forces Simone to embark on a tortured journey, her
rigidity at odds with her unholy fantasies involving Annabelle.
With its subtly nuanced performances and unflinching look at a
controversial relationship, Loving Annabelle is a film truly
worthy of its predecessor. – KY Outfest |

QUEER SPAWN
by Anna Boluda
(USA 2006) |
|
|
There are over 10 million
children with gay or lesbian parents in the United States. More
than the entire population of New York City. “Queer Spawn
features Christopher, 12 (two gay dads, New York City), and
Kyle, 15 (two lesbian moms, Austin, Texas), and shows how
geography affects the well-being of queer families across the
country. They and other children and adults share their
experiences with heterosexism and homophobia. At an annual
gathering called Family Week in Provincetown, the kids find
friends and safe space that for some may not exist during the
other 51 weeks of the year”. Elsa Eder, San Francisco lgbt ff. |
