Celebrating the first decade

One of the aspects that has characterized us and has given the prestige to the Festival in this first decade has been the scoop of the selected films, all them without being distributed in the Spanish State and under a rigorous programming. The selection has been made with strictness and professionality, supervised by Xavier-Daniel, starting from an average of 700 films per year which are submitted in each edition and more than fifty participant countries, is part of the balance.

On the other hand along the present decade, we have payed tribute to personalities that because of their professional reasons and also for humanitarian trajectory to the rights LGTIB have deserved them.

Those who have received our Tribute personally are: Rob Epstein (two Oscar of Hollywood for his vindicating documentaries, The Celluloid Closet), Alan Cumming (Eyes Wide Shut, Sex and the City, Spy Kids, X-Men2), Ingrid Caven (actress, widow and muse of R.W.Fassbinder, In a year of 13 moons, María Malibran's death), Jaime Humberto Hermosillo (Doña Herlinda and her son, pioneer of the gay movies in Mexico), Zazie of Paris (actress and singing transgender, Westler),Harry Baer (Querelle, Fox and shis friends) actor, friend and collaborator of Fassbinder), Edie Windsor (veteran activist, Stonewall), Josep Maixenchs (founder and director of ESCAC, Escola Superior de Cinema i Audiovisuals de Catalunya)...

And those who have presided over or taken part of the international juries, among others are: Randal Kleiser (Grease), Chastity Bono (now Chaz Bono, son of Cher), Patricia Nell Warren (writer of the best seller The Front Runner), Moritz of Hadeln (former director of Berlinale and Mostra of Venice), Manuela Kay (Internationale Filmfestspiele Berlin), Eloy De La Iglesia (The Deputy), Stephen Gutwillig (Outfest, Los Angeles LGBT FF), Vincenzo Patané (writer, historian), Jamie Babbit (But I'm A Cheerleader), Alan Baker (El beso de la mujer araña), Joel Joan (chairman of the Academy of Catalan Cinema)...

This year, we wish to pay tribute to Giovanni Minerba, founder and director of the first European festival specialized in thematic GLBT, nominated From Sodoma To Hollywood which has celebrated the 25th anniversary in Turin.

Let’s celebrate this first decade of the Festival together with Giovanni, specially because he has been a founder pioneer in Europe (from 1986), as our director Xavier-Daniel himself has been in Spain (since 1995).
