The present 8th edition of the Festival is devoted mainly to some important events which have been achieved by people from an audiovisual and cinema Plattform who have struggled for the distribution, production and making of lgtib movies in their countries:

The Canadian Filmmakers Distribution Centre (CFMDC) is an entity which deals with lgtib subjects and celebrates its 40th anniversary. From here, we recognise such a difficult task and effort. Some of their recent works from 2007 and 2008 are going to be screened.

The ILGA (International Lesbian and Gay Association) celebrates the 30th anniversary of fight in favour of gays and lesbians human rights all over the world. The FICGLB, member of this international association, publishes a report in order to inform us about the homophobic legislations.

A documentary Das andere Istanbul (The other side of Istanbul), unexhibited in our country, will be shown. It has been premiered in the last Berlinale; Love & Words, shot in Yemen by Sylvie Ballyot (France), explains the difficult relationship among women in the Islamic world, and the world premiere of Silhouette, by Shahriar Pourseyedian (Iran) about a transsexual’s life.

Inside/out is the Toronto Lgtb Film Festival that has achieved the 10th Anniversary Queer Youth Digital Video Project. There has been a selection of films made by digital techniques.

Out in Africa is another Festival that produces films to young filmmakers. This is a worthwhile work because it has been done with very few means, and it is also important in the audiovisual field. Several short films have been chosen about the homosexual women in Africa who are are going to be in front and behind the camera.

The present Festival also promotes educational programs at schools through a documentary shot by Debra Chasnoff, director and producer of a San Francisco company who has been rewarded by the Academy of Hollywood. There will be a roundtable session after the screenings.
